Miami vs NC State: Can the Hurricanes build on the momentum?

The Miami Hurricanes are visiting the NC State Wolfpack on Tuesday at PNC Arena.

The Hurricanes are picking up their game lately

The Miami Hurricanes are 14-6 for the season and 5-4 in ACC play. Miami had a difficult start to the year, losing 4 of 5 games, but has picked up their game with two consecutive wins over Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. Norchad Omier is playing excellent lately, recoding a double-double in the last two games. He had the best performance of the season against Notre Dame, posting 33 points and 10 rebounds. He leads the Hurricanes with 18.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Miami is 34th in the nation in scoring 81.4 points per game and 21st in shooting 48.9% from the field.

The Wolfpack have lost the last three games

The NC State Wolfpack are 13-7 for the season and 5-4 in conference play. They had a solid first half of the season but are currently going through a difficult period, losing the last three games. The Wolfpack lost 77-65 to Syracuse in the last game. DJ Horne had 15 points and four assists in that game. He leads NC State with 14.8 points per game. The Wolfpack are a poor shooting team, being ranked 229th in the nation shooting 43.8% from the field and 234th with 32.8% from the three-point territory.

Betting Trends

NC State is 8-11-1 ATS for the season, 6-5-0 ATS at home, and 2-3-1 after a loss. Miami is 11-7-2 ATS for the season, 3-1-1 ATS on the road, and 7-4-2 ATS after a win.

Prediction and Conclusion

NC State does not look like the team from the beginning of the season. They are on a three-game losing streak, the longest one of the season. Miami has also struggled lately, but has picked up the game in the last couple of weeks and looks like a very solid team, especially on the offensive end. The last time these two played in Raleigh, the Wolfpack won by two in overtime, and the Hurricanes won the previous three. NC State is a 2.5-point favorite going into this one, and Miami is definitely covering that one, maybe even winning on the road.
