Things are heating up in the conference play in the NCAA basketball circuit. We have tons of games scheduled for the weekend and we have our game breakdowns and college basketball betting trends for four of the most interesting games for the weekend.

Wisconsin and Michigan State will go against each other in a Big Ten battle. Kansas State will try to pull themselves together when they visit Houston, North Carolina is seeking to extend their winning streak on the road against Florida State and Arizona will try to do the same when they visit Oregon.

Let’s take a deeper look at the college basketball betting trends for these four games.

Michigan State vs Wisconsin

The Michigan State Spartans are 12-7 for the season and have split the first eight Big Ten Conference games. After losing back-to-back road games against Northwestern and Illinois, the Spartans have won the last three. They are coming off a 61-59 win against Maryland on the road. Tyson Walker led the Spartans with 15 points and five assists. He averages 19.7 points per game on 40% shooting from three-point territory. Michigan State is a solid defensive team, allowing 39.4% shooting from the field, which ranks them 16th in the country, and 30.8% from deep, 56th in the country.

The Wisconsin Badgers are on top of the Big Ten Conference with a 7-1 conference record and a 15-4 overall record. The Badgers have won eight of the last nine games. After losing 87-83 to Penn State, they won the last two against Indiana and Minnesota. Tyler Wahl led the Badgers in the 61-59 win over the Golden Gophers with 16 points and 4 assists. AJ Storr leads Wisconsin with 15.3 points per game for the season. The Badgers are 14th in the nation in free-throw percentage with 77.7% and 51st with 47.5% shooting from the field.

Michigan State vs Wisconsin: College basketball betting trends

Both Wisconsin and Michigan State are 10-8-1 ATS for the season. Wisconsin is 2-4-0 ATS at home and 9-5-0 ATS after a win, while Michigan State is 1-2-1 ATS on the road and 6-5-0 ATS after a win.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Badgers are having a promising season and have only one home loss for the entire year. They lost to Penn State a week ago, which cut their winning streak short, but they have responded well and are playing their best basketball of the season. The Spartans are having many ups and downs, and they are hoping to win their fourth straight road win over Wisconsin. However, the Badgers are a tough team and will dominate this game, covering the 2.5-point spread.

Kansas State vs Houston

The Houston Cougars are ranked fourth in the nation and have a 17-2 record for the season and 4-2 in conference play. The only two losses came in back-to-back games in the first half of January, as Houston lost to Iowa State and TCU. They have won three consecutive games since then and are coming off a 75-58 win over BYU. L.J. Cryer scored 23 points for Houston. He leads the Cougars with 15.6 points per game. Houston is the best defensive team in the league, being ranked first in points allowed per game (51.9), field goal attempts allowed (48.4), field goals allowed (16.8), and field goal percentage allowed (34.8%).

The Kansas State Wildcats are 14-5 for the season and 4-2 in the Big 12. They have lost two of the last four games and are coming off a 78-67 loss to Iowa State. Arthur Kaluma led the Wildcats with 16 points in that one. Cam Carter is the leading scorer for Kansas State this season with 16.3 points per game. The Wildcats are a poor shooting team, not being among the top 200 schools in both field goal and three-point percentage.

Kansas State vs Houston: College basketball betting trends

Houston has played under the total point line in 13 of 19 games this season, in 8 of 11 home games, and in 11 of 16 after a win. Kansas State has stayed under in 10 of 19 games for the season, and have split the four road games as well as the four games after a loss.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Houston Cougars are having an excellent season, and with the defense they play, no team can have a hot-scoring night against them. Their opponents barely score over 50 points per game, and knowing how poor of a shooting team Kansas State is, it will be a long night for the Wildcats. The Cougars are comfortable playing slow tempo with long possessions and usually take advantage of that play. The total point line for this game is 137.5, and no matter how low that seems, the final score of this game will stay under it.

North Carolina vs Florida State

The North Carolina Tar Heels are on top of the ACC with a 16-3 record and a perfect 8-0 record in the conference. The Tar Heels are on a nine-game winning streak and are coming off an 85-64 win over Wake Forest. RJ Davis had the best game of the season with 36 points, and Harrison Ingram had 10 points and 14 rebounds. Davis leads the team with 21 points per game, tied for 14th place in the nation. North Carolina is 21st in the nation with 83.5 points per game and is ranked sixth in free throws made per game with 18.9.

The Florida State Seminoles are 12-7 for the season and 6-2 in conference play. They had a poor start to the season, losing four consecutive games at the beginning of December, but currently have won six of their last seven games. The Seminoles are coming off an 85-69 win over Syracuse. Junior forward Jamir Watkins had the best game of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds. He leads Florida State with 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Florida State scores 77 points per game, is ranked 108th in the nation, and is not among the top 200 schools in the nation in shooting percentage.

North Carolina vs Florida State: College basketball betting trends

North Carolina is 12-7-0 ATS for the season, 4-0-0 ATS on the road and 10-5-0 ATS after a win. Florida State is 117-1 ATS for the season, 5-5-1 ATS at home and 6-5-0 ATS after a win.

Prediction and Conclusion

Florida State has a promising season, and how good they really are will be seen in the game against the best team in the ACC. The Tar Heels are on an eight-game winning streak and look unstoppable. They are among the best teams in the nation on both ends of the floor, and the Seminoles will have no response to that. North Carolina will have full control of the game and will win this game by covering the spread.

Arizona vs Oregon

The Arizona Wildcats are ranked ninth in the nation. They are 14-5 for the season and 5-3 in the Pac-12. The Wildcats have lost two of their last four games and are coming off an 83-80 loss to Oregon State. Caleb Love leads the team with 18.2 points per game and is coming off a 23-point performance in the last game. The Wildcats are second in the nation with 89.9 points per game and fifth with 19.2 assists per game.

The Oregon Ducks are 14-5 for the season and on top of the Pac-12 with a 6-2 conference record. They lost back-to-back games against Utah and Colorado and ended the losing streak with an 80-61 win over Arizona State. Jermaine Cousinard scored 19 points in the last win. He leads the team with 14.4 points per game. The Ducks are 86th in the nation with 78.2 points per game and 258th with 34.4 rebounds per game.

Arizona vs Oregon: College basketball betting trends

Oregon has played over the total point line in 11 of 18 games for the season, have split the 10 home games and has gone over in all four games after a loss. Arizona has gone over the total point line in 9 of 18 games for the season, in 2 of 4 on the road and in 7 of 13 after a win.

Prediction and Conclusion

Arizona looked much better earlier in the season than at the moment. They are still among the best offensive teams in the league, but their defense is not on the level to put them among the top contenders to win the NCAA championship. The Ducks are not on their level but are still on top of the conference for a reason. They are very solid at home, with a perfect 10-0 record. It will not be easy for them to keep that winning streak alive, but this game will most likely go over the total point line.
