The second playoff round in the NHL is in its final stage, as all four series have gone to at least five games. The conference finalists will be known by this weekend, and we are here to give you the NHL betting trends for the upcoming games.

The New York Rangers had a promising lead in the series against the Carolina Hurricanes, but now the team from Raleigh has a chance to tie things up. The Florida Panthers could finish the series against the Boston Bruins at home, but the series moves back to the north. The Dallas Stars were in the same situation, and the Colorado Avalanche refused to end the season. The Oilers and the Canucks are tied at two games apiece going into Game 5 in Vancouver.

Now let’s take a look at the game breakdowns and NHL betting trends for these four matchups.

New York Rangers vs Carolina Hurricanes

The New York Rangers took a 3-0 lead in the series, and it seemed like they had an open path towards the conference finals. However, the Carolina Hurricanes ended their seven-game winning streak in the playoffs with a 4-3 win in Game 4. The series moved back to New York, where the Hurricanes played their best game of the series and cut the series deficit to 3-2 with a 4-1 win. Four different players scored for Carolina, all in the third period of the game.

New York Rangers vs Carolina Hurricanes: NHL betting trends

The Rangers have won 10 of the last 14 games against the Hurricanes and 5 of the last 6 played in Carolina. New York is 9-2 SU in their last 11 games overall, and 8-2 SU in their last 10 games on the road. They have played over the total goal line in 4 of the last 6 games overall and in 13 of the last 20 games against teams from the Eastern Conference while they have played under it in 14 of their last 20 games played on Thursday. The Hurricanes are 11-5 SU in their last 16 games overall and 6-1 SU in their last 7 games at home. They have played over the total goal line in 4 of their last 6 games overall and in 4 of their last 5 games as favorites while they have played under in the last 9 games played on Thursday.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Carolina Panthers found themselves three games down in the series, but whoever watched those games saw that the Rangers were not that good of a team. Carolina continued to believe in themselves and managed to stay in the series with an impressive win on the road. Now the Hurricanes have momentum in the series, even though the Rangers have won five of the last six games visiting them. New York will try to get the job done on the road and avoid the defensive game. This will be a tough matchup with not many goals, so we go with under 5.5 in this one.

Florida Panthers vs Boston Bruins

The Florida Panthers won both games in Boston to take a 3-1 series lead but failed to close the series out at home. However, the Boston Bruins were not ready for the summer and stayed alive in the series with a 2-1 road win. Morgan Geekie and Charlie McAvoy scored for the Bruins.

Florida Panthers vs Boston Bruins: NHL betting trends

The Bruins have won 6 of the last 9 games against the Panthers but Florida has won 5 of the last 7 games in TD Garden. Boston is 1-4 SU in the last five games played on the road. The Bruins have played under the total goal line in 14 of their last 20 games overall, in 4 of the last 5 home games and 6 of the last 9 games against teams from the Eastern Conference while 13 of their last 20 games against Florida have gone over. The Panthers are 11-3 SU in their last 14 games overall and 4-2 SU in their last 6 games on the road. They have played over the total goal line in 6 of their last 8 games overall and in 5 of their last 7 games as favorites while they have stayed under in 14 of the last 18 games played in May.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Florida Panthers seemed to have full control of the series after they won both games on the road in Boston. They had a chance to close the series at home, but the Bruins played their best game of the series and managed to take it back to Boston. Again, the Bruins have their backs against the wall. Last season, they lost to the Panthers in the decisive game at home, and that will definitely be on their minds going into this one. The Bruins have the momentum of the series and will find a way to tie things up on Friday.

Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks

The Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks are tied at two games apiece in their series. Both teams won their first home games and lost the second. The Canucks had a chance to get one step away from the conference finals but lost Game 4 by 3-2. They came back from 2-0 down in the final period, but Evan Bouchard scored the game-winner in the final minute of regulation.

Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks: NHL betting trends

The Canucks have won 6 of their last 8 games against the Oilers and 5 of the last 7 games against teams from the Pacific Divison but have lot 4 of their last 6 games played on Thursday. They have played over the total goal line in 4 of their last 6 games against Edmonton, 4 of the last five games against them at home and 4 of the last 6 games played in May. The Oilers are 5-2 SU in their last 7 games overall, 13-4 SU in the last 17 games against teams from the Pacific Division and 7-3 SU in their last 10 games played on Thursday. The Oilers have played over the total goal line in 4 of their last 5 games overall and in 4 of their last 6 games on the road.

Prediction and Conclusion

This has been an interesting series, with both teams having their moments. Each of them won a game on the road, and it is quite difficult to predict the winner of this one. However, looking at the previous games of the series, an average of seven goals were scored. Therefore, we will follow the numbers on this one and go with over 5.5 goals in total for game 5.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche lost three straight games in the series but are still alive after winning Game 5 by 5-3 on the road in Dallas. Cale Makar was the key man for the Avalanche, scoring two goals in the game. Both of the Avalanche’s wins were on the road in Dallas, and now they will have to win at home to send the series to the decisive game.

Dallas Stars vs Colorado Avalanche: NHL betting trends

The Stars have won 4 of the last 6 games against the Avalanche. Dallas is 7-3 SU in their last 10 games overall, 12-2 SU in their last 14 games on the road and 13-7 SU in their last 20 games against teams from the Western Conference. They have played under the total goal line in 14 of their last 20 games, in 5 if their last 7 games against Colorado and have gone over in 6 of their last 8 games played on Friday. The Avalanche are 6-3 SU in their last 9 games overall, 12-6 SU in their last 18 games against teams from the Central Division and 15-5 SU in their last 20 games played in May. They have played over the total goal line in 13 of their last 17 games overall and in 8 of the last 11 games against Dallas while they have stayed under it in 4 of their last 5 games at home and in 5 of their last 7 home games against the Stars.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Stars won three consecutive games in the series, and it seems they will get the job done in Game 5 at home, but the Avalanche were excellent, and now the series is moving back to Colorado for Game 6. The Avs are playing very aggressively at home, and they have no other option but to have the same approach in this one. Dallas has an excellent road record, losing only two of their last 13 away games, and will find a way to close out the series and advance to the conference final.
