The University of Texas San Antonio Roadrunners and the Marshall Thundering Herd will face each other in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl. The game is scheduled for 9 PM EST on Tuesday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
UTSA finished third in the American Conference with an 8-4 record. Three of their four losses in the season were in the first four weeks of the season. Since then, the Roadrunners went on a seven-game winning streak that was cut short in the regular season finale against Tulane who won 29-16.
Marshall finished fifth in the Sun Belt – East Conference with a 6-6 record. They had a solid start to the season, winning four consecutive games, but then they completely collapsed, losing the next five. The Thundering Herd stopped the bleeding with a 38-33 win over Georgia Southern which was followed by the toughest loss of the season, 28-0 to Southern Alabama. Marshall finished the season with a 35-21 win over Arkansas State.
UTSA is 4-1 ATS in the last five games while Marshall is 2-3 and 2-4 this season against teams with a winning record.
UTSA’s senior QB Frank Harris, has had an impressive college career that will come to an end with this game. He has thrown for almost 12,000 yards in his career, completing 64% of his passes for 2,506 yards and 18 TD this season. He also had 323 rushing yards and reached the end zone four times. The highlight of the season was his 411-passing-yard performance in the 49-21 win over South Florida.
Makai Hart, De’Corian Clark and Ayomikun Daniel Ogundipe are out for UTSA while Marshall will be without Ayden Conley.
UTSA is going to the Frisco Bowl as a 12-point favorite, and playing close to home is not the only reason for that. Despite losing ACC Defensive Player of the Year Trey Moore, who entered the transfer portal, UTSA will still manage to cover the given spread. They are 16th in the country in points per play in the last six weeks, while Marshall ranks 120th in the same category. Frank Harris is playing on a high level lately and is extra motivated to lead his school to their first-ever Bowl win. He will prove his elite class from the start of the game, and UTSA will win this in a blowout.
