Tulane Green Wave vs Oklahoma Sooners: Can the Green Wave challenge the Sooners?
The Oklahoma Sooners are hosting the Tulane Green Wave at Memorial Stadium in Norman on Saturday.
Will Jordan Love take over the league?
The Tulane Green Wave split the first two games of the season and are now third in the American Conference. They had a great start of the season winning 52-0 in the opener against the SE Louisiana Lions. In the second game, also at home, they failed 34-27 to the Kansas State Wildcats. Green Wave freshman quarterback Darian Mensah had an impressive start of his college career passing for 547 yards in his first two games.
The Sooners look strong at the start of the season
As expected, the Oklahoma Sooners have an excellent start of the season winning the first two games, both at home. They started with a dominant performance beating the Temple Owls 51-3. Thinhs did not go that smooth against the Houston Cougars but the Sooners escaped with a 16-12 win despite scoring only two points in the second half. Jackson Arnold adapted well in the starting QB position passing for a total of 315 yards in the first two games.
Betting Trends
Tulane covered the spread in both games to start the season while Oklahoma did so in one only. Tulane went over the total point line in both of their games while Oklahoma in one. The Sooners won both of the previous two games against the Green Wave. In 2017 the score was 56-14 and four years later, 40-35.
Prediction and Conclusion
The Oklahoma Sooners lost only two games in the regular season last year and then failed in the Valero Alamo Bowl, 34-27 to the Arizona Wildcats. That was the only game last year to see Jackson Arnold start, and now, as a freshman, he will be a regular in that role. Arnold was quite good in the first two games, and the Sooners would not have any problem against Tulane. The Green Wave will have a rare chance to visit Norman and have nothing to lose in this one. Freshman Darian Mensah has shown that he has huge potential and will be interesting to see how he will perform against one of the best defenses in the league. However, Oklahoma will have full control of the game and win by covering the -13.5-point spread.
