Stanford vs Colorado: Two teams with completely different momentum
The Stanford Cardinal are visiting the Colorado Buffaloes at CU Events Center in Boulder, CO on Sunday.
Stanford are in a free fall
The Stanford Cardinals are tenth in the Pac-12 with a 12-16 record, including 7-11 in conference play. They have lost the last five games and are coming off a 90-68 loss to Utah. Michael Jones led the team with 20 points in that one. Maxime Raynaud is the best player on the Cardinals this season, averaging 15.1 points per game. Stanford is 17th in the nation in shooting 37.9% from three-point territory and 96th in scoring 76.5 points per game.
Colorado is finishing the regular season strong
The Colorado Buffaloes are fourth in the Pac-12 with a 19-9 record and 10-7 in conference play. They have won the last three games and are coming off an 88-78 win over California. After averaging 29 points in the previous two games, KJ Simpson scored 27 in that one. He leads the Buffaloes with 19.8 points per game for the season. Colorado is sixth in the nation, shooting 49.6% from the field and 39.5% from three-point territory. They are also 34th, scoring 80.9 points per game.
Betting Trends
Colorado is 13-15-0 ATS for the season, 10-6-0 ATS at home and 10-8-0 ATS following a win. Stanford is 12-15-1 ATS for the season, 3-6-1 ATS on the road and 6-9-0 ATS following a loss.
Prediction and Conclusion
The Colorado Buffaloes are in great shape, winning the last three games, and have a decent chance to finish among the top three teams in the Pac-12. On the other hand, the Stanford Cardinal are on a five-game losing streak and will probably finish the season in the same manner. Both teams are pretty solid on the offensive end, shooting a high percentage from the field, but with the Cardinal’s confidence fading away, they will most likely have a difficult night in Boulder. The Buffaloes are -11.5-point favorites, and that should be something they can cover. They have beaten Stanford in the last six games, and each of the last five Cardinal’s losses came in double digits, so we go with Colorado to cover the given spread.
