Wawrinka is coming off a 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 win over Charles Broom in the first round. That was his first match after losing in the second round of the French Open to Pavel Kotov.

Wawrinka has yet to win two matches in the same tournament this season.

Last week in Mallorca, Monfils made it to the semifinals, where he lost to Alejandro Tabilo in the decisive tiebreak. That was his second semifinal of the season after losing to Jacub Mensik in the same stage in Doha.

Monfils made his debut at Wimbledon in 2005, and his best result is the round of 16 in 2018. He is back at the All England Club for the first time since 2021.
