Seahawks vs Cardinals: The visitors need this one

The Seattle Seahawks are visiting the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night at State Farm Stadium in a must-win game if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The game of the season for the Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are third in the NFC West, splitting the 16 games of the season. After losing four consecutive games, the Seahawks won two of the last three, but last week’s 30-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers can prove costly for them. QB Geno Smith had his best performance after coming back from injury, throwing for 290 yards and a TD but that wasn’t enough for the Hawks. Seattle is 17th in the league scoring 21.4 points per game, and is ranked 20th with 322.7 yards per game.

Another disappointing season for the Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are locked to the bottom of the NFC with a 4-12 record. After losing back-to-back games to San Francisco and Chicago, the Cardinals stunned the Philadelphia Eagles on the road 35-31 last week. QB Kyler Murray had an impressive performance, throwing for 232 yards, and three touchdowns with a 116.7 rate. The Cardinals are 24th in the league, scoring 19.4 points per game and having 315.2 yards per game.

Betting Trends

The Cardinals are 2-5-0 SU at home this season and 0-3-0 SU after a win. The Seahawks are 8-3-0 SU against Arizona in the last 11 head-to-head games.

Player to watch

The Seahawks wide receiver, DK Metcalf, is 15th in the league with 1,104 yards. He is tied for eighth place with 8 touchdowns and also has 65 receptions. Last week, Metcalf had five catches for 160 yards, marking the second straight season and the third time in his career to top the 1,000-yard mark.

Injury Reports

DE Mario Edwards and OL Abraham Lucas are out for Seattle while LB Nick Bellore, LB Jordyn Brooks, and NT Jarran Reed are questionable. For Arizona CB Garrett Williams is out and DL Leki Fotu, LB Dennis Gardeck, and OL Elijah Wilkinson are questionable.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Seattle Seahawks must win in Arizona on Sunday and hope that the Green Bay Packers will lose at home to the Chicago Bears, in order to reach the playoffs for the 11th time in 14 seasons under coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks are 3-5 on the road and have won only one of five division games this season. These numbers do not sound any good, but looking at the Cardinals, they have won only two of seven home games and have lost all five division games this season. The Cardinals have not won two consecutive games this season, and even though they will give their best in this game, the Seahawks will get the job done and win this one quite easily.
