Red Wings vs Jets: Can Detroit end the losing streak in Canada?

The Detroit Red Wings are looking to end their three-game losing streak when they visit the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday at Canada Life Center. The Jets themselves are coming off an unexpected home loss, which makes this game interesting to follow.

How confident are the Jets at home?

The Winnipeg Jets are currently fifth in the Western Conference with an 18-9-3 record. What is interesting is the fact that they have equally split the wins and are only 9-5-2 at home. The Jets were on a good run, beating two of the best teams in the conference, the Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings, by scoring a total of 11 goals in the two contests. However, they failed in the shootout to the Montreal Canadiens in the last game.

Is this the season for Detroit?

No one could have expected that the Red Wings would disappear from the top of the NHL in recent years. The team from Michigan has missed the playoffs in the last seven seasons. They have a young roster that is still looking for their real identity, and if they can find it by the end of the season, the Red Wings may break the playoff drought.

Betting Trends

The Jets have won 6 of their last 8 games overall. They are also 4-1 straight up in the last five games against Detroit. The Red Wings are 1-6 straight up in their last 7 games.

Player to watch

Veteran Mike Scheifele is having an excellent season leading the Jets with 33 points so far. He and Josh Morrissey have 22 assists each. After scoring twice against the Kings, Scheifele has failed to do so in the last two games and is expected to be back on the board tonight against the Red Wings.

Injury Reports

Kyle Connor, Rasmus Kupari and Ville Heinola are out for the Red Wings. The Jets will not count on Matt Luff.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Red Wings have lost three straight games three times this season and already twice in the month of December. Things are not going well for them, especially after failing to beat one of the worst teams in the league, the Anaheim Ducks. The Jets, on the other hand, are solid and are only a couple of wins away from the very top of the conference. Looking back at the head-to-head matchups, the Jets are pretty dominant against the Red Wings and that trend will continue tonight as well at -165.
