Raiders vs Colts: A huge game for both teams
The Las Vegas Raiders are visiting the Indianapolis Colts at the Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday in a game that can affect the AFC playoff race.
Can the Raiders turn the season around?
The Las Vegas Raiders are second in the AFC West with a 7-8 record. They had a tough start to the season, losing 5 of the first 8 games. After a bye week in Week 13, the Raiders introduced Antonio Pierce as interim head coach. After losing 3-0 to the Minnesota Vikings, Pierce has done an excellent job in the next two games. The Raiders scored 63 points against the Los Angeles Rams before stunning the Kansas City Chiefs on the road with a 20-14 win last week. Still, the Raiders have one of the worst offenses in the league, being ranked number 29 in the NFL with 279.5 yards per game.
The Colts were awful last week
The Indianapolis Colts are second in the AFC South with an 8-7 record, the same as the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans. The Colts are only 3-4 at home, and they are coming off a 29-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The Colts are 11th in the NFL with 27.5 rushing attempts per game and 15th with 334.4 yards per game.
Betting Trends
The Colts have gone over the total point line in 10 of 15 games this season including six of seven home games.
Player to watch
Running back Jonathan Taylor is one of the go-to guys for the Colts this season. He has 118 carries, and has gone for 457 yards, with five touchdowns. Taylor is coming off one of the worst games of the season, having only 43 yards against the Falcons, or 2.4 on average. However, the 24-year-old is a reliable running back for the Colts and will most likely bounce back against the Raiders.
Injury Reports
G Jermaine Eluemunor, TE Michael Mayer and RB Josh Jacobs are questionable for the Raiders while RB Zack Moss is out for the Colts.
Prediction and Conclusion
It is safe to say that this is the game of the season for both teams. No one saw the Raiders being anywhere close to a playoff berth, but with Antonio Pierce leading them to victory in the last two games, the Raiders are back on track. On the other hand, the Colts have seen many ups and downs during the season, but they seem ready for one final push that can take them to the postseason. Both teams will go gloves off in this game, and given the fact that the total point line is set at 42.5, this game should easily go over it.
