Princeton vs Yale: Ivy League classic

The Princeton Tigers are visiting the Yale Bulldogs on Friday night at John J. Lee Amphitheater.

Princeton saw their winning streak cut short

The Princeton Tigers are coming off an 83-65 loss to Cornell, which marked the end of their six-game losing streak. That is only the second loss for the Tigers this season after they failed to defeat Saint Joseph’s in their tenth game of the season. Princeton is 15-2 for the season and 3-1 in the Ivy League. They are the fourth-best team in the country when it comes to free throw percentage, with 79.4%, and are ranked 27th, allowing 64.4 points per game. Xaivian Lee is the best player on the team, averaging 17.7 points per game, followed by Caden Pierce, who has 14.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Yale has won the last six games

The Yale Bulldogs are 13-6 for the season and have a perfect 4-0 record in conference play. They have won the last six games and are coming off a 78-65 win over Harvard, with August Mahoney having the best game of the season with 22 points and 7 rebounds. The Bulldogs are 101st in the nation, shooting 46.3% from the field and 35% from behind the arc, which ranks them 134th. Danny Wolf leads the Bulldogs, averaging 14.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game on 48% shooting from the field and 40% from the three-point line.

Betting Trends

Yale is 8-7-2 ATS for the season and 1-2-0 ATS at home. Princeton is 9-6-0 ATS for the season and 4-5-0 ATS on the road.

Prediction and Conclusion

Two of the best teams in the Ivy League are playing tonight, and even though Princeton has a much bigger basketball tradition, Yale is a 3.5-point favorite going into this one. The Bulldogs are on a six-game winning streak, while the Tigers ended that streak in the last game. Both teams are having a solid season, and this will definitely be an interesting matchup. Yale has center Danny Wolf, who will be tough to guard, but Princeton has the better roster overall. This game can easily go either way, and knowing how close both teams are, going with Princeton to cover the spread is the right choice.
