The NHL is entering the last two months of the regular season and things will heat up. There is a large program for Saturday and it will be a joyful day for every hockey fan. That means we have done a game breakdown of the top four games of the night.
The top teams in both conferences, the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks, make the game of the night. The Colorado Avalanche are in solid form and will face a real test against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Flyers ended a long losing streak and are hoping to take the momentum against the Winnipeg Jets. The Vegas Golden Knights are the first team to defeat the Edmonton Oilers in 2024 and will visit the Arizona Coyotes.
Let’s take a deeper look at the NHL betting trends for these four games.
Los Angeles Kings vs Boston Bruins
The Los Angeles Kings are seventh in the Western Conference with a 25-16-10 record. After losing 14 of 16 games, the Kings have won 3 of the last 4. They are coming off a 2-1 road win against the New Jersey Devils. The Kings are the fifth-best defensive team in the league, allowing 2.64 goals per game, and are ranked 15th, scoring 3.08. Adrian Kempe leads the team with 45 points for the season.
The Boston Bruins have fallen to second place in the Eastern Conference after being on top since day one of the season. They are 32-12-10 and have lost the last three games, all of them at home. The Bruins are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken. They are fourth in the league, allowing 2.59 goals per game, and are ranked second with a 91.8% save percentage. Offensively, they are 11th with 3.31 goals per game. David Pastrnak is having an excellent season, as he is fourth in the league with 34 goals and 78 total points.
Los Angeles Kings vs Boston Bruins: NHL betting trends
The Bruins are 1-4 SU in the last five games overall and 8-4 SU in the last 12 games against the Kings. Boston is 13-6 SU in the last 19 games against teams from the Pacific Division. The Kings are 5-15 SU in the last 20 games overall, 5-2 SU in the last 7 games played in Boston and 3-9 SU in the last 12 games played on the road.
Prediction and Conclusion
Both teams are struggling lately, and we got used to that with LA. Many are surprised by the recent drop in form by the Bruins. They have lost the last three games at home and even failed to score against the Washington Capitals. However, the Bruins are still the best team in the league this season, and they will bounce back tonight. Both teams are in the top 5 when it comes to defense, so even though there may not be many goals today, the Bruins will be the ones winning at the end.
Buffalo Sabres vs Minnesota Wild
The Buffalo Sabres are 14th in the Eastern Conference with a 23-26-4 record. They have lost three of the last four games and are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Florida Panthers. The Sabres are 21st in the NHL, scoring 2.92 goals per game, and 16th, allowing 3.08. Casey Mittelstadt leads the Sabres with 43 points, two more than Rasmus Dahlin.
The Minnesota Wild are 11th in the Western Conference with a 25-23-5 record. They have won the last four games and are coming off a 3-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes. The Wild are fourth in the league with 620 penalty minutes, 17th with 3 goals per game, and 21st with 3.23 goals per game. Kirill Kaprizov leads Minnesota with 50 points so far in the season.
Buffalo Sabres vs Minnesota Wild: NHL betting trends
Four of the last five games between these two teams played in Minnesota have ended under the total goal line. Minnesota has stayed under in 5 of their last 6 games overall and in 4 of their last 5 home games. Buffalo has played under the total goal line in the last five games against Central Division teams.
Prediction and Conclusion
The Minnesota Wild looked like a real contender in the first couple of months of the regular season. Then, they went on a major downfall and found themselves in the bottom third of the conference. Winning the last four games is a sign that better days are coming for Minnesota and that they may reach the playoff zone. The Sabres are one of the toughest teams to predict in the league. Just looking at the last two games, they beat the Kings by 7-0 and then lost 4-0 to the Panthers. However, both Minnesota and Buffalo are not hot on offense, and that has been the case in their most recent head-to-head games. With the total goal line set at 6, the best option is to go with the under.
Anaheim Ducks vs Toronto Maple Leafs
The Anaheim Ducks are having another season to forget. They are 14th in the Western Conference with a 19-32-2 record. The Ducks have won three of the last five games and are coming off a 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators. Anaheim is 27th in the league, allowing 3.42 goals per game, and ranks 29th, scoring 2.57 goals per game. Frank Vatrano is the best player on the Ducks this season with 41 points.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 28-16-8 record. They have won six of the last eight games and are coming off a 4-3 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Maple Leafs are fourth in the league in power play conversion with 26.4%, fifth with 3.46 goals per game, and 19th with 3.17 goals per game. Auston Matthews leads the NHL with 45 points, while William Nylander leads the Maple Leafs with 68 points, two more than Matthews.
Anaheim Ducks vs Toronto Maple Leafs: NHL betting trends
The last five games between these two teams played in Toronto finished over the total goal line and four of their last 5 head-to-head games. The Maple Leafs have gone over in 10 of the last 13 home games played on Saturday. Toronto is 9-2 SU in the last 11 games against Anaheim, 6-2 SU in the last 8 games overall, 4-1 SU in the last 5 home games, and 5-0 SU in the last five games against teams from the Western Conference. Anaheim is 6-13 SU in the last 19 games overall, 5-14 SU in the last 19 games against teams from the Eastern Conference and 6-12 SU in the last 18 games against teams from the Atlantic Division.
Prediction and Conclusion
The Toronto Maple Leafs are far from the top of the Eastern Conference, but there is no doubt that they would be able to beat any team in a seven-game playoff series. Matthews and Nylander are excellent on the offensive end, and the Ducks will feel that tonight. Anaheim is one of the worst teams in the league, and this will be the third game of their road trip. Toronto will take full advantage of the situation and win this in a game that will go over 6.5 goals in total.
Philadelphia Flyers vs New Jersey Devils
The Philadelphia Flyers are sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-19-7 record. After winning four consecutive games, the Flyers lost 4-3 in overtime to Toronto in the last one. They are 11th in the league, allowing 2.86 goals per game, and are ranked 22nd, scoring 2.91 goals per game. Travis Konecny leads the Flyers with 51 points so far this season.
The New Jersey Devils are ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 27-22-4 record. They have lost three of the last five games and are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Devils are tenth in the league, scoring 3.34 goals per game, and 26th, allowing 3.42. Jesper Bratt is leading the Devils with 57 points so far in the season.
Philadelphia Flyers vs New Jersey Devils: NHL betting trends
The Devils are 5-2 SU in the last 7 home games against the Flyers and they are 6-3 SU in the last 9 games against teams from the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers are 4-1 SU in the last 5 games overall and 4-2 SU in the last 6 road games.
Prediction and Conclusion
Both teams have made a step forward this season but have a lot more to do to make it to the playoffs. The Flyers are in better form at the moment, but the Devils have been dominating them in recent seasons when playing in New Jersey. It will be a tough game with many contacts, and the Devils will end up winning it on home ice.
