The NHL All-Star Weekend is in the books and the 32 teams in the league are heading to the final third of the regular season. Things will heat up as playoff time is approaching and we will have plenty of interesting games on Thursday night. That means we have done a game breakdown of the top four games of the night.

The top teams in both conferences, the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks, make the game of the night. The Colorado Avalanche are in solid form and will face a real test against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Flyers ended a long losing streak and are hoping to take the momentum against the Winnipeg Jets. The Vegas Golden Knights are the first team to defeat the Edmonton Oilers in 2024 and will visit the Arizona Coyotes.

Let’s take a deeper look at the NHL betting trends for these four games.

Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are on top of the Eastern Conference with a 31-10-9 record. They have won 7 of the last 9 games but are coming off a 4-1 home loss to the Calgary Flames in the first game back after the All-Star Game. The Bruins are fourth in the league, allowing 2.62 goals per game, and ranked eighth, scoring 3.44 goals per game. David Pastrnak is the best player on the Bruins, being third in the league with 33 goals and 73 total points.

The Vancouver Canucks lead the Western Conference with a 34-11-5 record. They have won five of the last six games and are coming off a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canucks are the highest-scoring team in the league with 3.78 goals per game and are ranked second, allowing 2.54 goals per game. JT Miller leads the team with 68 points, which ties him for fourth place in the NHL.

Four of the last six games between these two teams have ended under the total goal line. Boston has played under in 6 of the last 8 games against teams from the Pacific Division and in 7 of their last 10 games played in February.

Prediction and Conclusion

Both the Canucks and the Bruins have a promising season, and this game will be much more than just a regular-season game. The Canucks have two points more than the Bruins and have momentum. The Bruins lost 4-1 to the Flames in the last one and will have to step up on Thursday night. Both teams are in the top 5 in defensive efficiency, and there will be little scoring tonight. The total goal line is set at 6.5, and this one will stay under just like four of the previous six games between the two.

Colorado Avalanche vs Carolina Hurricanes

The Colorado Avalanche are second in the Western Conference with a 32-15-4 record, and they are five points behind the leading Vancouver Canucks. The Avalanche were on a three-game winning streak going into the All-Star break and lost the last two games afterwards. First, they lost 2-1 in overtime to the New York Rangers and then 5-3 to the New Jersey Devils. The Avalanche are second in the league, scoring 3.76 goals per game, and are ranked 18th, allowing 3.12 goals per game. Nathan MacKinnon is having an impressive season, tied for first place with 53 assists and 85 points, and tied for fourth place with 32 goals.

The Carolina Hurricanes are fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 28-16-5 record. They were on a three-game winning streak before losing 3-2 to the Vancouver Canucks in the last one. Carolina is tenth in the league, scoring 3.35 goals per game, and is ranked 12th, allowing 2.94 goals per game. Sebastian Aho leads the Canes with 18 goals, 37 assists, and a total of 55 points.

Colorado Avalanche vs Carolina Hurricanes: NHL betting trends

Eighth of the last ten games between these two teams have finished under the total goal line, including the last six played in Carolina. The Hurricanes have played under in 4 of the last 5 home games overall.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Avalanche have shown a significant drop in their form after coming back from the All-Star break. Losing the last two games put them under pressure, and they will have to find their best game when they visit Carolina. The Hurricanes have been playing pretty solid at home throughout the entire season and stand a real chance in this game. Both teams are very potent offensively, but the stats say that they have played under the total goal line in eight of their last 10 matchups. Given the fact that the line is set at 6.5, this game will most likely finish under it.

Winnipeg Jets vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Winnipeg Jets are fifth in the Western Conference with a 30-13-5 record. They were on an excellent run, winning 10 of 11 games, but have lost the next four since then. The Jets are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, which was the second time in their last four games that they failed to score. The Jets are the best defensive team in the league, allowing only 2.31 goals per game, and are ranked 16th in the league, scoring 3.08 goals per game. Mark Scheifele is leading the Jets with 41 points this season.

The Philadelphia Flyers are eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 26-19-6 record. They are coming off a 2-1 road win against the Florida Panthers, which ended their five-game losing streak. The Flyers are 25th in the league, scoring 2.84 goals per game, and are ranked much higher in 11th place, allowing 2.88 goals per game. Travis Konecny is the best player on the Flyers, with 43 points so far in the season.

Winnipeg Jets vs Philadelphia Flyers: NHL betting trends

Philadelphia is 9-1 SU in the last 10 home games against Winnipeg. They are 5-1 SU in the last 6 games against opponents from the Western Conference. The Jets are 1-5 SU in the last 6 games overall and 6-12 SU in the last 18 games against the Flyers.

Prediction and Conclusion

Both teams have been struggling lately, and the Jets are going through the longest losing streak of the season. Their defense has been on a high level, but they struggle offensively, and that may be a problem against the Flyers. Philadelphia is in the middle of the standings in the East and got momentum after a road win in Florida. Both teams are in a state of emergency, and that will add some intensity to this game. The Flyers have been dominating the Jets, winning nine of the last 10 in Philadelphia, and we are backing them up to add another win tonight.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Arizona Coyotes

The Vegas Golden Knights are fourth in the Western Conference with a 30-15-6 record. The defending champions have won three of the last four games and are coming off a 3-1 win over Edmonton that ended the Oilers 16-game winning streak. The Golden Knights are 13th in the league, scoring 3.18 goals per game, and are ranked seventh, allowing 2.71. Goalie Adin Hill leads the league with a 93.8% save percentage and by allowing only 1.88 goals per game. Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights with 50 points so far in the season.

The Arizona Coyotes are 12th in the Western Conference with a 23-22-3 record. They have lost the last three games on the road and are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Coyotes are 22nd in the league, scoring 2.94 goals per game, and are ranked 16th, allowing 3.04. Clayton Keller is the best player for Arizona, leading the team with 45 points so far in the season.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Arizona Coyotes: NHL betting trends

Vegas is 12-5 SU in the last 17 games against Arizona, 6-2 SU in the last 8 games overall, and 10-4 SU in the last 14 games against teams from the Central Division. The Coyotes are 2-5 SU in the last 7 games overall, 2-4 SU in the last 6 games against teams from the Western Conference, and 7-13 SU in the last 20 games against teams from the Pacific Division.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Vegas Golden Knights proved that they are still the team to beat in the NHL after defeating the Edmonton Oilers, something that no other team managed to do in the previous 16 games. The Coyotes have made some progress compared to last season but are still far from the playoff level. Vegas has been dominating against the Coyotes in recent years and will most likely hand them their fourth consecutive loss.
