Things are heating up in the NHL as we are going into the second month of the 2024-25 NHL regular season. As usual, there is a long schedule on Saturday, and we are going to see the betting trends for the four more interesting matchups.

The Boston Bruins are not as good as everyone expected, and they will have a chance to improve their record when they visit the St. Louis Blues. The Seattle Kraken and the New York Islanders are improving their form and hope to continue going in the right direction. The Philadelphia Flyers are probably the biggest disappointment so far in the season and will have to do something about it when they host the Buffalo Sabres. Unlike them, the New Jersey Devils are the team to beat in the East and will try to continue their run when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Let’s take a deeper look at the NHL betting trends for these four games.

St. Louis Blues vs Boston Bruins

The St. Louis Blues are 12th in the Western Conference with a 7-9-1 record, including 3-4-1 on the road. They have lost the last four games and are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres. The Blues are 26th in the league scoring 2.50 goals per game and rank one spot lower allowing 3.47 goals per game. Jordan Kyrou leads the team with 15 points so far in the season.

The Boston Bruins are eighth in the Eastern Conference with an 8-8-2 record, including 5-3-1 at home. They have lost 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 7-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. The Bruins are 27th in the league scoring 2.50 goals per game and are ranked two spots higher allowing 3.39. David Pastrnak leads the team with 17 points so far in the season.

St. Louis Blues vs Boston Bruins: NHL betting trends

The Bruins are 1-4 SU in their last 5 games against teams from the Central Division and 9-2 SU in their last 11 games played on Saturday. Boston has played under the total goal line in 5 of their last 7 games overall, 5 of their last 7 games against the Blues, and 6 of their last 8 games played in November. The Blues are 1-4 SU in their last 5 games overall, 1-5 SU in their last 6 games against the Bruins, 1-5 SU in their last 6 games on the road, and 2-6 SU in their last 8 games against teams from the Eastern Conference. St. Louis has played under the total goal line in 8 of their last 11 road games played on Saturday.

Prediction and Conclusion

These two teams will face each other for the second time this week after the Bruins won 3-2 on the road in St. Louis for their fourth win in the last five games against the Blues. It is pretty strange to see these two teams near the bottom of the league in goals scored per game, and they are not much better on the defensive end either. The Bruins definitely have the better roster, and the pressure is on them to perform well. Coming back home after a tough loss in Dallas, the Bruins will show up ready and win this one.

New York Islanders vs Seattle Kraken

The New York Islanders are seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 7-6-4 record, including 5-3-2 on the road. They have won 3 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks. The Islanders are 25th in the league scoring 2.65 goals per game and are ranked 14th allowing 3.06. Kyle Palmieri leads the team with 15 points so far in the season.

The Seattle Kraken are tenth in the Western Conference with an 8-8-1 record, including 5-3-1 at home. They have won the last three games and are coming off a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. They are 18th in the league scoring 3 goals per game and are ranked 11th allowing the same number. Jared McCann leads the team with 20 points so far in the season.

New York Islanders vs Seattle Kraken: NHL betting trends

The Kraken are 3-6 SU in their last 9 games overall and 3-7 SU in their last 10 games against teams from the Eastern Conference. Seattle has played under the total goal line in 4 of their last 6 games against the Islanders, 8 of their last 12 home games, and 6 of their last 8 games against teams from the Metropolitan Division. The Islanders are 2-4 SU in their last 6 games against the Kraken, 2-5 SU in their last 7 games against teams from the Western Conference, and 3-8 SU in their last 11 games against teams from the Pacific Division. New York has played over the total goal line in 6 of their last 7 games overall, 4 of their last 5 games on the road, and 8 of their last 9 games played in November.

Prediction and Conclusion

After a difficult start to the season, both the New York Islanders and the New York Islanders are picking up their form lately. The Kraken are going into this one as winners of the last three games, while the only two Islanders’ losses in the last five games came in overtime. The last two games between these two teams went to shootout, with the Kraken winning both of those. We expect another close game this time around, so we go with a tie in regulation.

Buffalo Sabres vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Buffalo Sabres are 11th in the Eastern Conference with an 8-8-1 record, including 2-3-1 on the road. The Sabres have won 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 4-3 overtime win over the St. Louis Blues. They are 13th in the league scoring 3.41 goals per game and are ranked 22nd allowing 3.29. Tage Thompson leads the team with 18 points so far in the season.

The Philadelphia Flyers are 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 7-8-2 record, including 3-4-0 at home. They have won 3 of the last 4 games and are coming off a 5-4 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators. The Flyers are 24th in the league scoring 2.71 goals per game and four spot lower allowing 3.59. Travis Konecny leads the team with 19 points so far in the season.

Buffalo Sabres vs Philadelphia Flyers: NHL betting trends

The Flyers are 5-14 SU in their last 19 games against teams from the Eastern Conference and 3-7 SU in their last 10 games against teams from the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia has played over the total goal line in 4 of their last 5 games overall, 10 of their last 13 games against the Sabres and their last 6 home games against them while they have played under in 6 of their last 9 home games. The Sabres are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games overall, 8-3 SU in their last 11 games against the Flyers, 5-12 SU in their last 17 games on the road and 1-5 SU in their last 6 games against teams from the Metropolitan Division. Buffalo has played over the total goal line in 6 of their last 9 games overall and 8 of their last 10 games against teams from the Eastern Conference.

Prediction and Conclusion

Both the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers have a long road to go to recover from the poor start of the season. The Flyers have jumped from the bottom of the standings in the East and have won three of the last four games, after all of those finished in a tie in regulation. Interestingly, none of the last ten games between these two did not go into overtime, and the Sabres won 7 in that stretch. The Flyers definitely have the momentum, and this will be a high-scoring game, going over 6.5 goals in total.

New Jersey Devils vs Tampa Bay Lightning

The New Jersey Devils are on top of the Eastern Conference with a 12-6-2 record, including 8-3-0 on the road. They have won 5 of the last 6 games and are coming off a 6-2 win over the Florida Panthers. The Devils are sixth in the league scoring 3.60 goals per game and are ranked fifth allowing 2.60. Jesper Bratt leads the team with 24 points so far in the season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are ninth in the Eastern Conference with an 8-6-1 record, including 5-1-1 at home. The Lightning are coming off a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets that ended their four-game losing streak. The Lightning are seventh in the league scoring 3.53 goals per game and are ranked 11th allowing 3 goals per game. Nikita Kucherov leads the team with 24 points so far in the season.

New Jersey Devils vs Tampa Bay Lightning: NHL betting trends

The Lightning are 1-4 SU in their last 5 games overall, 5-10 SU in their last 15 games against teams from the Eastern Conference, and 7-3 SU in their last 10 games against the Metropolitan Division. Tampa Bay has played over the total goal line in 5 of their last 6 games against the Devils and 6 of their last 7 home games against them while they have stayed under in 4 of their last 5 home games. The Devils are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games overall, 1-8 SU in their last 9 games against the Lightning, 4-1 SU in their last 5 games on the road, and 7-3 SU in their last 10 games against teams from the Atlantic Division. New Jersey has played over the total goal line in 7 of their last 8 games against teams from the Eastern Conference.

Prediction and Conclusion

The New Jersey Devils are playing their best season in a while, and they are coming off back-to-back wins against the defending champion Florida Panthers on the road. The Tampa Bay Lightning were also impressive in the last one, handing the Winnipeg Jets their second loss of the season. There is no doubt that the Devils are the better team at the moment, but winning three in a row on the road against some of the toughest teams in the East is a little too much for them. The Lightning have won 8 of the last 10 games against the Devils, including the last four, so we go with Tampa Bay continuing their successful run in the head-to-head series.
