We are going into the second month of the 2024-25 NHL regular season. As usual, there is a long schedule on Saturday, and we are going to see the betting trends for the four more interesting matchups.

The two teams from New York have a completely different start which makes the home Rangers major favorite against the visiting Islanders today. The Winnipeg Jets are close to a perfect start of the season and whether they can stay on top of the Western Conference, we will know today when they host the Tampa Bay Lighting. Unlike them, the Boston Bruins have not met the expectations so far in the season and will need to recover when they host the Seattle Kraken. The Washington Capitals, on the other hand, are a pleasant surprise and will attack the top of the East when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes.

Let’s take a deeper look at the NHL betting trends for these four games.

New York Islanders vs New York Rangers

The New York Islanders are 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 4-5-2 record, including 3-2-1 on the road. They are coming off a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres that ended their three-game losing streak. The Islanders are eighth in the league allowing 2.91 goals per game and rank second to last scoring 2.27. Kyle Palmieri leads the team with 8 goals so far in the season.

The New York Rangers are fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 7-2-1 record, including 3-1-1 at home. They have won 2 of the last 3 games and are coming off a 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators. The Rangers are the best defensive team in the league allowing 2.2 goals per game and are fourth in the league scoring 3.90. Artemi Panarin leads the team with 16 points so far in the season.

New York Islanders vs New York Rangers: NHL betting trends

The Bruins are 2-5 SU in their last 7 games overall, 5-10 SU in their last 15 home games, and 13-7 SU in their last 20 games in November. Boston has played under the total goal line in 4 of their last 6 games against Seattle, 4 of their last 6 games against teams from the Eastern Conference, and 9 of their last 13 games against teams from the Pacific Division. The Seattle Kraken are 1-5 SU in their last 6 games overall, 2-6 SU in their last 6 games against teams from the Eastern Conference and 1-4 SU in their last 5 games against teams from the Atlantic Division. Seattle has played under the total goal line in 5 of their last 7 games overall and 7 of their last 10 games played on Sunday.

Prediction and Conclusion

The two teams from New York City come into this game as winners of the last one. However, the Rangers are in much better form since they jumped among the top four teams in the conference with a recent successful streak. They are in the top five on both offense and defense, and the Islanders will need a miracle to win in MSG. The Islanders have a better road record than they play at home, but that doesn’t guarantee anything. The Rangers are simply way better and will probably not allow more than one goal by the opponent. Therefore, we go with the Rangers to cover the -1.5-goal spread.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets are on top of the Western Conference with a 10-1-0 record, including 4-1-0 at home. Their only loss came against the Toronto Maple Leafs and they won the following two games against the Detroit Red Wings and the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jets are the top-scoring team in the league scoring 4.73 goals per game and are ranked third allowing 2.36. Kyle Connor leads the team with 18 points so far in the season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 7-4-0 record, including 3-3-0 on the road. They are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild that ended their three-game losing streak. Tampa Bay is eighth in the league scoring 3.82 goals per game and rank 11th allowing 3 goals per game. Nikita Kucherov leads the team with 18 points so far in the season.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Winnipeg Jets: NHL betting trends

The Jets are 10-1 SU in their last 11 games overall, 5-1 SU in their last 6 home games against Tampa Bay, and 2-5 SU in their last 7 games against teams from the Atlantic Division. Winnipeg has played over the total goal line in their last 5 games overall, 10 of their last 12 home games, and 4 of their last 5 games against teams from the Eastern Conference. The Lightning are 4-2 SU in their last 6 games overall, 1-5 SU in their last 6 games against Jets, 1-5 SU in their last 6 visits to Winnipeg, and 13-4 SU in their last 17 games against teams from the Western Conference.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Winnipeg Jets have found their way among the top teams in the West in recent years, but this season, they look like the best one. Winning 10 out of 11 games to start the season is the best start in franchise history, and they have no plans to stop any time soon. The Lightning also have a solid start to the season and may be competitive in this game. Only one time this season, the Lightning played a draw in 60 minutes, so we pick to go to overtime today.

Seattle Kraken vs Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 5-6-1 record, including 3-3-0 at home. They are coming off a 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers that ended their two-game losing streak. They are 12th in the league allowing 3.08 goals per game and rank 19th scoring 3 goals per game. Jared McCann leads the team with 14 points so far in the season.

Seattle Kraken vs Boston Bruins: NHL betting trends

The Rangers are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games overall, 10-3 SU in their last 13 games against teams from the Metropolitan Division, and 5-1 SU in their last 6 games played in November. Boston has played under the total goal line in 4 of their last 6 games overall, 8 of their last 9 home games, and 7 of their last 10 games against the city rival. The Islanders are 5-11 SU in their last 16 games overall, 3-6 SU in their last 9 games on the road, and 2-5 SU in their last 7 games against teams from the Metropolitan Division.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Boston Bruins are the biggest disappointment so far in the season, but there is no doubt that this team is still among the best in the league. They obviously need some time to adapt to the new players on the roster, and we expect them to look much better today. The Kraken also play worse than expected, and they go to Boston as the losers of 5 of the last 6. The Bruins will take advantage of the opportunity and win today.

Washington Capitals vs Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 7-2-0 record, including 2-1-0 at home. They have won the last five games and are coming off an 8-2 win over the Boston Bruins. The Hurricanes are second in the league allowing 2.33 goals per game and rank sixth scoring 3.89. Martin Necas leads the team with 15 points so far in the season.

They have won the last three games and are coming off a 7-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. They are third in the league scoring 4.40 goals per game and rank seventh allowing 2.90. Dylan Strome leads the team with 16 points so far in the season.

Washington Capitals vs Carolina Hurricanes: NHL betting trends

The Hurricanes are 5-0 SU in their last 5 games overall, 12-4 SU in their last 16 home games, and 5-2 SU in their last 7 games against teams from the Eastern Conference. Carolina has played under the total goal line in 14 of their last 20 games overall and 5 of their last 7 home games played on Sunday. The Capitals are 8-1 SU in their last 9 games overall, 2-6 SU in their last 6 games against Carolina, 6-1 SU in their last 7 games against teams from the Eastern Conference, and 8-2 SU in their last 10 games played in November.

Prediction and Conclusion

Both teams are off to a great start of the season and go into this game with long winning streaks. The Capitals played the majority of their games at home, and it will be interesting to see how good they are on the road. The Hurricanes have the advantage of the home court, and more importantly, they had a longer break since this will be the Capitals’ second game in two nights. Given that, we go with the Hurricanes to win this one.
