He is coming off a 7-5, 6-2 win over Pedro Cachin in the opening round in Estoril.

Last week, Fucsovics lost in the second round in Miami 6-4, 6-2, to Daniil Medvedev after defeating Max Purcell in the opener. That was his first tournament after a month, when he lost in the first round in Dubai to Jiri Lehecka. Fucsovics has yet to make it past the second round in any tournament he has played this season.

Monfils best result this season was the semifinal in Doha, where he lost to Jauk Mensik.

Head-to-Head Monfils leads 3-0

  • Monfils vs Fucsovics 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 (2023 ATP Stockholm, first round)
  • Monfils vs Fucsovics 6-4, 7-5 (2020 ATP Dubai, first round)
  • Monfils vs Fucsovics 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 (2019 ATP Madrid, second round)

Prediction and Conclusion

Both players are past their prime but are still some of the biggest fighters on the tour. This is Fucsovics’s first appearance in Estoril, while Monfils is back for the first time since 2019. Neither of them prefers to play on clay courts, but they both had solid performances in the opening round. Monfils has won all three previous matches against Fucsovics, but the Hungarian has held tight in all of them. Monfils is still the best player but is not able to dominate an entire match. The way Fucsovic’s usual effort goes, he will hang on in there, and this match will go over 22.5 games in total.
