Kraken vs Blue Jackets: Can the Blue Jackets stop Seattle’s run?

The Seattle Kraken are one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now, and will try to continue their winning streak when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

The Kraken have won the last eight games

The Seattle Kraken are ninth in the Western Conference with an 18-14-9 record. They are on an eight-game winning streak, the second-longest active in the league, and have not lost since December 20, 2023. The Kraken are coming off a 4-1 win over the Capitals in Washington. They are scoring 2.78 goals per game this season while allowing the exact same number. Vince Dunn leads the team with 34 points followed by Oliver Bjorkstrand with 31.

The Blue Jackets have another disappointing season

The Columbus Blue Jackets have another disappointing season being 15th in the Eastern Conference with a 13-20-9 record. They have lost the last two games and are going into this one after failing 5-0 against the Winnipeg Jets. Columbus scores 2.98 goals per game which is quite good, but allowing 3.67 cannot bring them any success. Johnny Gaudreau leads the team with 25 points this season.

Betting Trends

Seattle is 8-0 SU in the last 8 games overall and 5-0 SU in the last 5 games on the road. They are also 5-0 SU in their last 5 games against Eastern Conference opponents. Columbus is 1-4 SU in their last 5 games overall, 1-6 SU in the last 7 home games, and 1-5 SU in the last 6 games against Pacific Division opponents.

Player to watch

Jared McCann leads the Kraken with 14 goals this season. However, he has not scored in the last five games and there is no doubt that he would be back in good shape sooner than later. Going against one of the worst teams in the league looks like a perfect opportunity for McCann to remind us what he is capable of doing.

Injury Reports

Nick Blankenburg, Zach Werenski, Patrik Laine, Boone Jenner and Sean Kuraly are out for Columbus while Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Philipp Grubauer are out for Seattle.

Prediction and Conclusion

The Seattle Kraken is in excellent form winning the last eight games but still they are under the playoff line in the West. This will be the third game of their road trip and defeating the Bleu Jackets should not be a problem. Columbus has lost the last two games and their poor defense will cost them in the game against Seattle.
