He is very close to making it to the top of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career, and this may be the tournament that will launch him there. In the second round, he is facing the French veteran Richard Gasquet, who was excellent in the opening round, beating Borna Coric in straight sets. Gasquet was very close in both matches against Sinner last year, and he will be very competitive in this one on clay.
