Edmonton Oilers vs Florida Panthers: Stanley Cup Finals Game 7

Everything has come down to Game 7 between the Florida Panthers are the Edmonton Oilers who will play for the Stanley Cup tonight at Amerant Bank Arena.

The Oilers have the momentum

The Edmonton Oilers made a big deal about getting back to the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 2006, but quickly went 3-0 down. It was a tough situation and many already gave up on them, but the Oilers kept fighting and won the next three games. They had full control of Game 6 winning 5-1 at home. Five different players scored for the Oilers. Connor McDavid leads the team with 42 points in the playoffs, followed by Evan Bouchard with 32 and Leon Drainsaitl with 31.

Can the Panthers get the job done at home?

The Florida Panthers finished the regular season in third place in the Eastern Conference, and not many gave them any shot of returning to the Stanley Cup Finals. They had a furious start to the series taking a 3-0 lead but were not even close to winning any of the last three games. Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov lead the Panthers with 22 points so far in the playoffs.

Betting Trends

The Panthers are 6-3 SU in their last 9 games overall, 4-13 SU in their last 17 games against Edmonton, and 14-6 SU in their last 20 games against teams from the Western Conference. The Oilers are 6-3 SU in their last 9 games overall, 13-4 SU in their last 17 road games against Florida, and 5-14 SU in their last 10 road games played on Monday. These two played under the total goal line in 4 of the last 5 games in the series.

Prediction and Conclusion

No one could have predicted that this series would go all the way to Game 7 after the Panthers took a 3-0 lead. However, the Oilers took control from that point on and were very dominant the rest of the way. They are the first team since 1945 to get back to the final series after being 3-0 down, and they will try to be only the second team in NHL history, after the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, to win the championship after such a deficit. The Oilers are so good that they won Game 6 by 5-1 without their best player, Connor McDavid, scoring a point. The Panthers will have the support of the home crowd, but that will not be enough as the Oilers will win the Stanley Cup tonight.
