Eagles vs Seahawks: Which team will continue the losing streak?
Two struggling teams will face off on Monday Night Football as the Seattle Seahawks host the Philadelphia Eagles at Lumen Field. The Eagles ruined what they were building the entire season with back-to-back losses in the last two weeks. They are a 3-point favorite against the Seahawks, who already have the alarm sound on.
Should Nick Sirianni be worried?
The last time the Eagles lost three straight games was in 2021, the first month after Sirianni took over the team. After the Eagles failed to the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys by 20+ points, the Eagles have to bounce back against the Seahawks. Jalen Hurts had only 197 passing yards against the Cowboys, and that was the first time for him to lose consecutive games since he came to Philly. However, the Eagles (10-3) are still one of the best teams in the league, and they would probably respond well in this situation.
Will the season be over for the Seahawks?
The Seahawks (6-7) are in a really deep hole after losing four consecutive games. They lost 17-16 in Los Angeles to the Rams, which was a difficult pill to swallow, but the next three losses have put the Seahawks with their backs against the wall. It’s been 15 years since Seattle defeated Philadelphia the last time, which clearly speaks who the favorite is in this game.
Betting Trends
The Eagles have won the last 8 games against the Seahawks. They met the last time in November 2020, when Philadelphia won 23-17. That was the closest they were in any game after their last win in 2008.
The Battle of the Quarterbacks
The biggest uncertainty going into this game is whether Geno Smith will suit up for Seattle. The Seahawks quarterback missed the last game with a groin injury. Drew Lock made his first NFL start, finishing with 269 passing yards and converting on 22 of 31 passing attempts. Lock had a solid individual performance, but the team does not look close as good as when Smith runs things.
Injury Reports
Geno Smith is questionable for the Seahawks as well as Devon Witherspoon and Jamal Adams. Cam Jurgens, Zach Cunningham, and Darius Slay are all out for the Eagles.
Prediction and Conclusion
Given the odds, the Eagles are a slight 3-point favorite in this game, but if we actually look at both rosters, Philly is much better than Seattle. Even if Geno Smith is back in action, he will not be at his 100% and the Eagles will know how to take advantage of that. The Eagles have scored first in 16 of their last 21 games and will probably take the lead early in this one as well, which will lead them to a comfortable victory at the end.
