Eagles vs Buccaneers: NFC Wild Card Playoffs
The Philadelphia Eagles will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card Playoffs on Monday evening at Raymond James Stadium.
The Eagles are in a mess
After last year’s Super Bowl appearance, the Philadelphia Eagles had a really difficult season, finishing second in the NFC East with an 11-6 record. They started well, winning 10 of the first 11 games, but finished the season losing 5 of the last 6. They could have gotten the momentum back in the last week of the regular season but were dominated by the New York Giants, losing 27-10. QB Jalen Hurts had a solid season with 3,858 yards and 23 TDs. The Eagles are seventh in the league, scoring 25.5 points per game, and eighth with 354.4 yards per game. On the defensive end, the Eagles are ranked 30th in the NFL, allowing 25.2 points per game.
The Buccaneers finished strong
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished the season on top of the NFC South with a 9-8 record. They finished the season by winning 4 of the last 5 games and are coming off a 9-0 win over the Carolina Panthers. The Bucs are 20th in the league, scoring 20.5 points per game, and are ranked seventh in the league, allowing 19.1 points per game. QB Baker Mayfield is ninth in the NFL with 4,044 yards and seventh with 28 TDs.
Betting Trends
Tampa Bay is 11-6-0 ATS this season, 3-5-0 ATS at home and 5-3-0 ATS after a win. Philadelphia is 7-8-2 ATS for the season, 4-4-1 ATS on the road and 1-4-0 ATS after a loss.
Prediction and Conclusion
The Eagles are a three-point favorite going into this one, but they are facing a lot of uncertainty. Jalen Hurts suffered a finger injury to his throwing hand in the last game against the Giants. AJ Brown went down with a knee injury, and Devonta Smith didn’t even play. Hurts will definitely start for the Eagles, but it is a huge question as to how ready he will be. Philadelphia defeated Tampa in Week 3, 25-11, but the Buccaneers have the momentum here and will be able to cover the +3 point spread.
