Daniil Medvedev is third in the ATP rankings and has won the 2021 US Open. The Russian is coming off a 6-3, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1 win over Nuno Borges in the round of 16. Previously, he defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, came back from two sets down against Emil Ruusuvuori, and went past Terence Atmane in the opening round.
Medvedev reached the Australian Open finals in 2021 and 2023, losing to Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. Last season, Medvedev won six titles and finished the year with a 66-20 record.

Medvedev is one of the favorites to win the Australian Open, but if there is one opponent he doesn’t want to see on the other side of the net, that is Hurkacz.
