Celtics vs Warriors: The rematch of the 2022 NBA Finals

The Boston Celtics have the best record in the NBA at the moment and are targeting their sixth straight win when they visit the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center in San Francisco. The Celtics are still bitter about the 2022 NBA Finals loss to the Warriors. Steve Kerr’s team is not playing well in the first two months of the season and this game may turn things around for them.

Are the Celtics the No. 1 contender this season?

The Celtics are 20-5 so far in the season and have won 8 of the last 10 games. Adding Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to the roster cost them a lot but those moves have proved to be the right ones. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have grown into real leaders and the Celtics look like the team to beat this season in the NBA.

Are the Warriors already in trouble?

The Warriors are 11th in the Western Conference with a 12-14 record and have split the last 10. They are coming off a 118-114 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Steph Curry ended the longest active streak of 268 consecutive games with at least one three-pointer made after shooting 0-of-8 in that game. What is an even bigger problem for Steve Kerr is Draymond Green’s suspension that will keep him away from the team for at least three more weeks. The Warriors will have to pick up their game before they sink into a real trouble.

Betting Trends

The Celtics are 0-5 ATS in the last five games against the Warriors and in the last five games on the road. The Warriors are 5-0 straight up in the last five games and 4-1 ATS in the last five against Atlantic Division opponents.

Key matchup

Andrew Wiggins has been given a bench role in the last couple of games and he is coming off a 25-point performance against the Blazers. The Warriors wingman may be the key player for the Warriors going against Jayson Tatum who leads the Celtics with 27.3 points per game.

Injury Reports

Luke Kornet is listed as day-to-day for the Celtics. Draymond Green is out for the Warriors with a suspension and Gary Payton II due to a calf injury.

Prediction and Conclusion

This will be another hyped up game between two teams with high hopes this season. The Celtics are 5.5-point favorites and have a lot to prove against the Warriors. Steph Curry had a poor individual performance in the last game and will use this one to bounce back. Without Draymond Green in it will be tough to slow down the Celtics but the Warriors have won four of the last five against them and will be able to cover the spread in this one.
