The defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz will take on Aleksandar Vukic in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday.

Carlos Alcaraz Profile

Carlos Alcaraz is third in the ATP rankings, and it’s been a while since his short stint on top of it. The Spaniard is 28-6 for the season and 2-1 on grass.

Alcaraz is coming off a 7-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over qualifier Mark Lajal in the opening round.

That was his first match after losing in the second round of the Queen’s Club Championship to Jack Draper.

Alcaraz won two titles this season. He won his third major at the French Open and also lifted the trophy in Indian Wells.

Last year, Alcaraz won the title in Wimbledon with an impressive win over Novak Djokovic in the final.

Aleksandar Vukic Profile

Aleksandar Vukic is 69th in the ATP rankings, and his career high was No. 48. The Austrialian is 18-23 for the season and 8-5 on grass.

In the opening round at Wimbledon, Vukic defeated Sebastian Ofner 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6.

Last week in Eastbourne, Vukic went from being a lucky loser to reaching the semifinal, where he stood no chance against Taylor Fritz.

This is Vukic’s third appearance at Wimbledon, and last year he also made it to the second round, where he lost to Quentin Halys.

Head-to-Head Vukic leads 1-0

  • Vukic vs Alcaraz 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 (2020 French Open, qualifiers)

Prediction and Conclusion

There are not many players on the tour who have a winning head-to-head record against Carlos Alcaraz, and Aleksandar Vukic is one of them. The Australian has a solid season for his rankings and is coming off a tough win in the decisive tiebreak in the opening round. Alcaraz is still warming up on grass and is ready to defend the title at Wimbledon. He will try to spend the least possible time in this match and will give no chance to Vukic winning the match in straight sets.
